FAQ – Ask Katie!

Q) ISN’T DETOXING JUST A FAD?

A) It  is the way in which the body can rest from extensive digestive and metabolic issues. It uses that same energy, instead, to clean itself out of toxins, thus allowing itself to heal

Our program allows you to be in a true state of fasting – which does mean no food to be consumed at all, (not even chewing gum, as this is stimulating digestion and digestive juices which can also lead to reflux and excess gas produced when fasting). However, our method is specific and unique and does get results for the body, mind and soul. The absence of food, allowing you to be in a complete fasting state, cleans all the obstructions, irritants and stimulants, like mucus, heavy metals, chemicals and pesticides out of your body. This allows for proper digestion, absorption, utilisation and elimination.

Q) WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO FEEL WHILST ON THE DETOX? I’VE HEARD IT CAN MAKE YOU FEEL REALLY LOW IN ENERGY.

A) Our fasting detox program, when followed correctly, is extremely safe and reliably easy to complete. Occasionally over the years we have observed a number of symptoms that can present during the fast. Most in particular within the first 3 (72 hours) of your starting day. Some of these feelings or sensations can be anything from flu-like symptoms, fever, heartburn, lung congestion, energy loss, swelling and itching. This is in the worst case scenario, and not to induce panic, but awareness of what is known as a ‘healing- crisis’. This signifies and reflects that the body will soon increase the function of the cells and start on the path of regeneration. We also suggest heavily that the PREP-PLAN be adhered to, in order to minimise these possible adverse effects.

Q) WHAT IS AN ENEMA? IS IT NECESSARY TO DO DURING THE PROGRAM? CAN I SKIP THIS PART OF THE DETOX?

A) This specific technique is aimed at the removal of waste stored within the bowels. We feel that this is an integral part to an effective detox, through the added elimination of an accumulation of toxins or ‘toxic load’. This could be due to a poor diet, the use of medicinal and recreational drugs, an hormonal imbalance or environmental stressors, and can further assist in optimal function of the liver. We strongly advise that this is adhered to, and your detox manager will guide you through the process on commencement of the program, to further assist you in any apprehension or queries you may have. It is a non-invasive, gravity fed procedure that will have you feeling lighter and more energetic after it is completed.

Q) CAN I STILL TAKE MY MEDICATION PRESCRIBED BY MY DOCTOR?

A) Yes. It is advised that you check with your doctor first. As part of the program you will be taking 3 ‘shakes’ throughout the day and they may have a contraindication if taken too closely together. We advise that these are to be taken away from each other, giving a one hour break in between, so therefore our detox manager may have to adjust your schedule accordingly. Please bring this to their attention at orientation, so that they are aware, and can inform you the best way of acting on this.

Q) IS IT SAFE TO EXERCISE WHILST FASTING?

A) This will be assessed on a case by case basis, given we are not all created equally. With that in mind, and in conjunction with the detox program (designed by a qualified nutritionist) we advise adhering to low- intensity, low- impact exercises making it safe to still be getting movement and strength gains in your day, whilst on the detox program. You are supported throughout your program, so any questions or concerns you may have you can discuss with the detox manager.
